On the occasion of Germany assuming the EU presidency on 1st of July, the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany invited EU member states’ Ambassadors accredited to the OPCW for a handover ceremony. Ambassador Gudrun Lingner thanked her predecessor, Croatian Ambassador Dubravka Plejić Marković, and emphasized her intention to ensure smooth coordination on OPCW topics during Germany’s presidency. Despite the political challenges and difficult pandemic-related working conditions, Ambassador Lingner expressed her confidence that the EU member states, together with partners of all regional groups, will be able to make further progress on the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
