On 23 February 2023 the Permanent Representation together with the CBW Network for a Comprehensive Reinforcement of Norms against Chemical and Biological Weapons (CBWNet) invited representatives of CWC member states, NGOs, scientific organizations and the media to a panel discussion titled “Countering Disinformation: A Shared Responsibility”. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. Thilo Marauhn (CBWNet), the panelists were: Chelsea Fewkes (International  Impartial and Independent Mechanism – IIIM –, Geneva), Raimonda Miglinaite (East StratCom Task Force, EEAS), Fadel Abdul Ghany (Syrian Network for Human Rights) and Chloe Hadjimatheou (BBC). The panel discussion revolved around the mechanisms of disinformation campaigns, giving amongst others the example of the reactions on the 3rd report of the Inspection and Investigation Team (IIT) on the use of chemical weapons in Douma (2018), as well as effective defence strategies against misinformation.
